Kitchen Minute with Melisa Limanowski
Melisa Limanowski, Riverwest neighborhood, Milwaukee WI
"I love planning meals in advance, figuring out what ingredients I need to buy, spending the time prepping everything, then watching it come together. It's a meditative process for me."
Melisa Limanowski is a professional researcher, writer, and genealogist. She has worked with a variety of non-profit organizations as a fundraiser and event planner. A passion for food and history inspired her to create The Hungry Genealogist blog. The blog had monthly features on women, foodways, and family recipes. It was a platform for researching, and sharing, the history behind dishes and ingredients. Melisa prefers to cook for others, rather than eating other peoples' food. "I cook so often that cooking is now part of the whole meal experience for me. When I eat other people's meals, without helping, it feels like such a short activity!"
While she likes planning out meals, for her dinner, she's keeping it simple tonight: "Homemade fish sandwiches and asparagus!"
